Mayan ruins in the jungle One of the best preserved Mayan cities Palenque. Moreover, the location phenomenal. Visit this site early in the morning and see the dew rise above the jungle. Enjoy the stunning view from one of the temples and with any luck you'll hear the hawler monkeys call in the surrounding forest. Wander around from temple to temple and wonder about the mighty Maya. Read more about the places we visited during our trip through Mexico, Guatemala and Belize.
Salisbury Plains king penquins Salisbury Plain is located on the south side of the Bay of Isles on the west side of South Georgia. The small plain is wedged between the foothills of Grace and Luke glacier. Salisbury Plain is famous for it's 60,000 pairs of king penguin that breed here. During the moult, the number of penguins can raise as high as 200,000 or 300,000. It's almost surreal to be on this plain. The appearance of the colony, the sound and smell is utterly unforgettable! The last wilderness

Traveling throughantarctica_cuverville_island an area where our civilization has had no control, where animals rule and the scenery is breathtaking. This kind of description sounds like the most beautiful music to us. These are the kind of trips that make our dreams come true. In 2009 we travel to Argentina's Ushuaia to board Quark Expeditions' Akademik Sergey Vavilov for an expedition cruise to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, the South Orkney Islands, the South Shetland Islands and last but not least Antarctica. Our report contains sections describing each part of the trip and a brief summary of our highlight. Read more...

Reefs and Maya

belize_barrier_reef2First we see a documentary on National Geografic about a special lodge in Belize. What a beautiful country! We should go there some day, was a thought that crossed our mind. Some time later we read an artikel about the beautiful reefs with snorkel and dive sites just outside the coast of Belize. Snorkeling? Water fears? Oh, everything can be learned. But just snorkeling doesn't fill a complete holiday for us. We buy books, surf the Internet and in the end make a tour schedule that will bring us from Mexico to Guatemala and as big finally snorkeling in Belize. Travel with us and read our practical information and findings. Read more...

The Mekong river and more

Don_Khong_zonsondergangDuring two of our trips to Thailand we traveled along different parts of the Mekong river. Every time we looked to the other side, a strong sense of curiosity about this unknown country for us came on to us. The theme of this trip is the Mekong river. For us, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Pakse, Champasak and Muang Khong have one thing in common. They are all locations where you sit on the riverside while enjoying a drink as the sun sets. Obviously Laos is much more than just enjoying the sunsets. Read our review and join us for journey through this remarkable country! Read more...
